Creating a New MSCE/ORD File in ProjectWise Explorer - PW2103

Introduction

This page describes the workflow for creating either a new MicroStation or new OpenRoads Designer file from within the ProjectWise Explorer application. This workflow assumes that the user has already installed and configured the ProjectWise Explorer application, and has a project folder within the DelDOT datasource (DELDOT Production).

Workflow

  1. Launch the ProjectWise Explorer application.
  2. Navigate to the appropriate contract folder location where you would like to create the MicroStation or OpenRoads Designer file.
  3. Right-click within the empty space in the right pane of the ProjectWise Explorer application, select New > Document.

  4. From the Select A Wizard dialog, click on the Advanced Wizard icon and then select the OK button.

  5. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard dialog, select the Next button.
  6. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Select Target Folder dialog, confirm by highlighting the folder that you want to create the new file within.

  7. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Select a Template dialog, click the Use ProjectWise document as a template button, then select the Select button.

  8. From the Select Template Document dialog, navigate to the following folder to choose the appropriate seed file for your needs 02 Standards > Seed Files.

  9. Select the appropriate seed file from the list of seed files, and select the Open button.
  10. Once the appropriate seed file has been selected, you will be reverted back to the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Select a Template dialog. Select the Next button.
  11. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Define Document Code dialog, fill in the appropriate information as described below:
    1. Sheet Type - From the dropdown list, select the appropriate sheet type that matches the file that you want to create.
    2. Drawing Sequence Number - Leave this field blank, this will be populated in step "h" below.
    3. Design Section - This field is auto-populated based on the folder that was selected in step 2.
    4. Drawing Type - From the dropdown list, select the appropriate drawing type that matches the file that you want to create.
    5. Contract - This field is auto-populated based on the contract folder that was selected in step 2.
    6. Organization Identifier - This field is auto-populated based on the contract folder that was selected in step 2.
    7. Short Description - This field is optional, and allows the user to add custom text to the design file name. (Keep custom text to a minimum)
    8. Once the above information has been entered into the appropriate fields, select the Generate button to populate the Drawing Sequence Number field.

  12. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Document Properties dialog, it is recommended to change the Description property field to a description that is more reflective of the file being created in lieu of the seed file name that was used to create the new document. Select the Next button.

  13. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Define Document Attributes dialog, fill in the appropriate fields as necessary for the new document being created.
    1. Rendition Set File - Leave this field set to default for all new files, except for SHEET files. This field is used for determining how levels for a sheet file will be processed during the rendition process (Plotting).
      1. Default - This setting will create a rendition of the SHEET file based on the level settings of the file.
      2. Sheet Type - This setting will create a rendition of the SHEET file based on the level settings in the DelDOT CADD Standards Set Files. (This is the recommended setting for all SHEET files)
    2. Set File Type - This setting allows the user to select the DelDOT CADD Standards Set File to be applied to the file during the rendition process. Only applied when the Rendition Set File option is set to Sheet Type.
    3. CS Phase - Leave this field blank, except for Construction Phasing SHEET files. For Construction Phasing SHEET files, set this field to the appropriate construction phase.
    4. County - Verify this field contains the correct County.
    5. Bridge No. - If applicable, fill in the appropriate bridge number for the new file.
    6. Traffic Permit No. - If applicable, fill in the appropriate traffic permit number for the new file.
    7. Last Revised - Leave this field blank.
    8. Select Next.

  14. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Document Properties dialog, select Next.
  15. From the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Create a Document dialog, review the document specifications. If the specifications are correct, select Next. If there is an error in the specifications, select Back to navigate back to the appropriate dialog to correct the issue.

  16. Once the document has been created, from the Advanced Document Creation Wizard - Successful Completion dialog, select Finish'. The new file will be listed in the right-pane of the Project Explorer application.
