This document will guide the trainee through the process of setting up all the necessary files to create PDF plans using MicroStation Connect Edition (MSCE), OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and ProjectWise Explorer (PW). This process can be adapted for use in other software and environments at the user’s discretion. It is recommended that you use the latest version of Bluebeam Revu when viewing this document.

==Plan Production Process Overview==

The following is an overview of the process contained with this training document. It is intended to familiarize the trainee at a high level and provide links to the appropriate place later in the document.

# Initial Setup

##
Request project creation in ProjectWise.

## PW: Create Strip Reference files (AL, RW, PC, FS, etc…)

## PW: Create the Reference Composite file.

## PW: Create the Sheet Border file.

## MSCE: Open the Reference Composite file and reference in Strip Reference files.

#
Primary Sheets (CP, GG, RW, SS, etc…)

Primary Sheets are the cross referenceable geolocated plans that follow the construction alignment. Examples of this include Construction Plans, Grades and Geometrics and Signing and Striping. The following process will create multiple Drawing Models in the RC DGN and separate the Sheet Models into individual DGNs.

## ORD: Create named boundaries.

## ORD Batch: Run batch program to set each sheet model in correct location on CP01.

## PW: Copy and Paste CP01 to create Primary Sheets (ie CP, SS, GG, RW, etc).

## Batch: Run batch program to rename models for each file created above.

## MSCE: Add to Sheet Index.

3. Secondary Sheets (TC, TS, HV, IS, etc…)

Secondary Sheets are non-cross referenceable sheets that may be geolocated and do not directly follow the construction alignment. Examples of this include the Title sheet, Detail sheets and Horizontal and Vertical sheets. The following process will create DGNs with Drawing Models and Sheet Models.

3.1. PW: Create generic Secondary Sheet DGN.

3.2. MSCE: Create georeferenced Secondary Sheets (HV, IS, etc…).

3.3. MSCE: Create non-georeferenced Secondary Sheets (TS, DT, etc…).

4. Creating Renditions

Renditions are how you plot inside of ProjectWise, which uses iPlot behind the scenes.

4.1. PW: Select files to be printed, right-click and select Create Renditions…

4.2. Bluebeam: Combine Multiple files into a single PDF.

5. Advanced Discussions

5.1. Working with Distributed Designs.

5.2. Design vs Drawing vs Sheet Models.

5.3. Removing Named Boundaries and Boundary Groups.

5.4. Creating special sheet types.

5.5. Diagram: Reference Structure for Primary Sheets.

5.6. Diagram: Reference Structure for Secondary Sheets.
